Girls Minor Division Preview

Duluth East

Forward Ella Thoreson tied for the lead in scoring at the December Danglefest with four goals and seven points, while her counterpart Ella Hornung tied for third in scoring at this spring's Minnesota Selects with three goals.

With standouts on both sides of the puck, the Hornets can rely on Alex Niccum offensively and Layla Hemp defensively. Niccum totaled three points in four games at last year's Peewee Challenge while Hemp was named to the Danglefest all-tournament team as the goaltender for 10A champion Andover.

Grand Rapids

Pure goal-scorer Mackenzie Jones racked up seven goals to lead the Danglefest's 10A Division in scoring, while the divisions' other all-tournament goaltender Taylor Kressin will guard the crease for the Thunderhawks. Jones totaled seven goals during the tournament, while Kressin turned in several outstanding performances against top-quality competition.

Minneapolis Southwest

Forward Makayla Moran was nearly unstoppable at March's Stars of Tomorrow tournament, dishing out six assists en route to eight total points. Moran also totaled four goals and five points at last year's Peewee Challenge. Joining Moran in the scoring parade could be Maya Engler, who tallied four goals at Minnesota Selects earlier this spring.

Rochester John Marshall

Standouts Sophie Martin, Brianna Law, and Mercury Bischoff team up to help form one of the stronger-skating teams in the division. Bischoff more than held her own playing in The Show this summer, totaling three points for Team North America.
