Katie Sandlein will make another appearance at the Peewee Challenge this year.

Girls Major Division Preview

Duluth East

The bulk of the Duluth East lineup features players who have made their mark at this tournament in last year's Minor Division, such as 2017's leading scorer Izy Fairchild (six goals, seven points). Kendra Distad also ranked among the top scorers from last year's tournament with five goals and six points. Toss in standout defender Katie Sandelin and the Greyhounds some the pieces for a deep tournament run.

Edina

The Hornets features several players already familiar with the Peewee Challenge, including Hailey Jussila and Sienna Duffy. Both Jussila and Duffy tied for fourth in overall scoring doing the 2017 tournament. Forward Sophie Stramel skates with a talented Team Minnesota squad during the offseason.

Grand Rapids

Forward Josie Lang stood out at this spring's Minnesota Selects festival for her tough play, and should team well with 2017 12UB State Tournament Most Valuable Player Brooke Nelson on the Thunderhawks' front. Goaltender Ella Heath offers Grand Rapids a solid option between the pipes.

Minneapolis Southwest

Keying the Minneapolis Southwest attack will be Hannah Halverson, who has statistically produced at both last December's Danglefest and last fall's Peewee Challenge. Halverson recorded three goals and eight points during the Dangelfest and four assists and five points during the Peewee Challenge. Ava Mosley also showed well for Duluth Central at last year's PWC.

Rochester John Marshall

Forward tandem Molly Ryan and Justice Ohlgren pair with goaltending standout Kaitlin Groess to give the Rockets a nice balance of offense and defense. Ryan finished as tied for last season's Peewee Challenge scoring title with seven total points, while Ohlgren was named to the all-tournament team. Ohlgren also recorded three goals and five points during this spring's Stars of Tomorrow tournament.

Forward Josie Lang stood out during Minnesota Selects, and she'll likely do the same this weekend for Grand Rapids.
